Step 1. Customize your design
To start creating your gift certificate voucher, the first step is to design a template that aligns with your brand and the purpose of the voucher. While there are numerous free gift certificate voucher templates accessible online that you can draw inspiration from, it's crucial to customize the design to reflect your brand's personality and the intended occasion.
A voucher template usually is around 1152px x 768px.
To ensure a successful voucher redemption, it's important to make the voucher's amount or exchange value and its validity very clear. Additionally, you may want to consider including any terms and conditions that apply to the voucher, such as restrictions on certain products or services.
For this tutorial, we have design a simple voucher that looks like this.
To enhance the personal touch of the gift certificate voucher, you may also consider adding your customer's name to the design. This not only adds a special touch but also helps to build a good reputation with your customers.
Step 2. Generating your voucher certificate as PDF
Believe it or not, the previous step was in fact the hard one. There are various ways to generate a PDF in Stencil without using code.
For this tutorial, we are going to use the Test Console to generate the PDF. As you use Stencil more and more, you'll find yourself using this Console a lot. It's the easiest way to generate image or PDF right from Stencil.
Click on Console button when viewing your templates inside your project. You'll be redirected to the Console page.
By default, Console generates images. You can select PDF from the dropdown option next to the Generate button.
Make some changes based on your requirement. Once you're ready, click on Generate to start generating your PDF.
It will take a couple of seconds to generate a PDF. This process is done asynchronously. You can wait until it's done or leave the page.
Once it is done, you should see the download link. If you leave the page, you can always go to the Requests page to find your generated PDFs.
The generated PDF is ready to be downloaded.
Tips
If you're printing the voucher, make sure that the paper quality is good and that the voucher looks professional. Make sure that the canvas size is the proper size.
If you're sharing the voucher digitally, you can save it as a PDF file and email it to the recipient, or share it on social media.
